RINEMBA Chapter Meeting: October 5, 2021 7:00PM at Morse Tavern

Agenda:

-Importance of Waivers

-NEMBA insurance requires waivers for any NEMBA branded event or trail work for ALL  participants. Member or not. 

-Two types of waivers. Annual and Event

- Annual waivers cover general trail maintenance and group rides, but not larger paid events, for both members and non-members

- Event Waivers must be complete separately for any paid or large event such as a Fun Ride

-New Tent

-Corporate has had challenges with the order. Soon…. (maybe)

-Browning Mill Bridge project in Arcadia

-DEM is waiting for materials. RINEMBA to schedule a work day even if just to haul lumber


-Ryan Park Trail Improvement project 

-Background (DEM has set aside $ for improving the “running” trails at Ryan Park. While no concession has been made for MTB, RINEMBA has voted to assist in the project as a 

good will outreach)

-DEM Wetlands Dept reviewing site


-Roger William Park trails project (possible XC trail through unused area of park)

-No new info/project stalled


-Arcadia Fun Ride

-lessoned learned

-Some riders were confused on how to ride the big loop. Better signage required. Possible different route strategy. 

-Need food of some sort on site

-over all success with great feedback

-estimated $900+ in funds collected to be donated to non-profit of choice per Galoob family

-have not received funds from corporate NEMBA


-Big River Fun Ride

-Date conflict with QCNEMBA event on 10/17. Motion to cancel approved.

-Planing bigger better event for spring 2022, Try for 150ppl permit


-2022 Fun Ride Schedule

-Propose schedule for 2022 at Nov meeting.

-Try for 150 person permits if possible

-Big River, Woody, Arcadia, what else?


NEMBA Trail School Feedback 

-Marc Troob, in attendance at the meeting, went to trail school. First hand account.

-Very informative. Focusing on building sustainable trails using thoughtful trail design.

-Online video prepared students and the day of event was outside all day, hands on. 

-Worthwhile to continue sending members to the program

-Possible opportunity to have a mini Trial school in RI at Woody Hill


Possible Woody Hill Trail School

-Can we use the NEMBA videos?

-Informational more than hands on. Identifying poorly designed trails and ideal corrections. 

-Basic techniques

-Follow up at next meeting after brainstorming


Big River trail closure on DNA 

-A section of DNA had been closed by DEM some time ago due to wildlife habitat infringement. The reopening was noticed by RINEMBA and Alan notified DEM asking if we should close it again. DEM to meet with Alan next week to discuss. 


Arcadia/DEM trail day

-Working with DEM to clear trails of dead fall and debris

-4 Volunteers so far

-Creating social media blast/Facebook event

-all attendees MUST register with Alan first

-hoping for 10 crews of MTB


Encouraging Volunteerism

-Trail Work Raffle/Scheduled Trail Days: Not approved until we can assure more legal trail days. Revisit next meeting.

-Trail Builders Ball approved (see next item)


Woody Hill Trail Builders Ball

-Private Invite Only event for Trail Workers

-75ppl limit, pre registration required. $10 per person members and non members (reg fee covers shirts)

-Custom T-shirt designed by Pibb Richard and printed by J Mack Studios

-Door prizes available. Look for shops/businesses to donate. 

-Grey Sail to donate “pizza”. Possible after party at Grey Sail with “pizza” being covered for the first round.

-later start to accommodate hunters 10am-2PM

-wrist bands and drink tickets

-75 person limit for ride, unlimited for after party (need to define this with Grey Sail)

-RINEMBA $750 budget for “pizza” and prizes



RINEMBA Budget/bank account

-approximately $2800 in the bank with no new revenue source for the year

-tent cost is -$1000

-Tuition reimbursement to Trail School attendees -$300

-Woody Hill event $750

-Donation to support NOCO $100

-Leaves $650 on hand for any projects till end of year (possible DEM collaboration)


News from corporate:

NEMBA still fighting NOCO over defection and $

-RINEMBA supports NOCO. 

-To donate $100 to NOCO.

-Social media post


News from Board:

Westerly Pump Track

-Remy’s working with the town of Westerly for a new pump track. NEMBA to help find Funding.

-possible DEM Trails Grant. Due Dec 17th.

-No location yet but the town is on board with land. 

-Tabitha to look further into grant proposal


Woody Hill Kiosks

-Glenn leading protest to put up 2 map kiosks at Woody Hill. 

-Lumber donated from Remy’s for first Kiosk

-Mystic Cycle wants to donate a second kiosk. CT company, will we allow it in RI? 

-Yeah duh. Unanimous approval.


Mountain Munchkins

-NEMBA very interested in helping in any way. Great project.

-NEMBA help may not be needed at this time but Marc T will consider moving forward.

-Possible to use NEMBA insurance for events but only at properties that do not require permits for 10+ (Ryan)

-Permits for other areas NEMBA may be able to help
