RINEMBA September Meeting: 7:00 p.m. September 7, 2021 Morse’s Tavern.

1.     Thank you Jenna for the minutes, Shannon for cat herding.

a)     Member #’s, account $, etc.

2.     Welcome to any newcomers

3.     Corporate to have access to RI bank account per NEMBA rules. FYI.

4.     Arcadia bridge. Positive effort. Next likely to be boardwalks.

a)     Some difficulty navigating with wide handlebars – design followed guidelines could we lower railings on future bridge projects slightly? Alan to discuss with Jeff

b)     Boardwalks – DEM still waiting for materials, no build days on the calendar

5.     Roger Williams Park trail project: resuming discussions.

6.     Tent. Awaiting word from corporate. Will not have tent for Arcadia fun ride (for check-in/info)

a)     Borrowing tents from Shannon and/or Nick

7.     Ryan Park Opportunity          

a)     $80,000 grant from DEM for ‘phase 1’ 2021-2022, kiosks, signage (grassy section Lafyette to Oak Hill Rd), trail system for high school track team.

1.     Could use some NEMBA volunteers – Alan to contact director and commit some volunteer effort. Dennis to help recruit

8.     Longer term, Cocumcussoc state park (North Kingstown off Ten Rod Road) allowing town to develop the park.

9.     BR Fun Ride – try for 10/10. Plan to reuse 2019 route

10.  Invite only Woody Hill Ride 11/21? Thank you to trail builders across Rhode Island. Could start later (11AM) to better accommodate hunters, close registration early to be cognizant of sunset timing (~5:20PM).

a)     Alan to submit request for permit to DEM

11.  Arcadia Fun Ride

a)     Permit states there cannot be donations made at the event and/or food sold.

b)     Donation – Would like to donate to a charity in Lillian Galoob’s name, need to be a charitable organization not a Go Fund Me. Organization to be determined by the Galoob family.

c)     Updates? 36 registered

1.     Christy Mcgrail (NEMBA) – in charge of setting up reg for events through NEMBA. Shannon has list from Christy of current registrants

d)     Cleanup needed?

1.     Had a lot of damage

2.     Still some major clearing needed along beginner loop (on the Shoot) and Mt Tom (Middlegate)

3.     Dennis riding both loops this weekend to determine if more cleanup needed

e)     Volunteers needed?

1.     Volunteers should be versed in how to address ridership limit on the day of

2.     Need help arrowing up – need to coordinate arrowers/ signs so they know how/where to arrow & logistics.

1.     Plan to meet the Wednesday before (9/15) to discuss arrowing game plan. Riders need a way to carry arrows and a stapler

2.     Preriders needed for the day of

3.     Glenn has stapler, Alan to buy staples

f)      Check-in station 8AM, riders do have to sign waivers at the check-in station.

1.     Chris to get large map printed for check-in table (with QR)

g)     In the event of rain we can offer a refund but also stress that this is a ride for donation. Change wording on event page to describe this. Decision on rain will be made on the day of (if needed), mass email will be sent.

h)     Arrow removal

12.  Ride area ambassadors….thoughts?

a)     Woody Hill – rider representative (Dennis/Josh Mason)

b)     Other areas? Keep it as-is but if someone steps up and wants to take the responsibility we should train/allow them

13.  New Busines from board?

a)     Discussions of inactive board members for upcoming elections (October/November)

14.  Comments/requests/concerns/questions/complaints from newcomers?

 

 

Meeting adjourned at 9:30 pm.  Next meeting to be held on Tuesday October 5th, 2021 at 7pm. 

Location of meeting at this time remains Morse Tavern on Tiogue Ave in Coventry.
