June 2022 Meeting

RINEMBA June Meeting: 7:00 p.m. June 7, at Black Oak, Coventry and Zoom.

1.     Administration

a)     Member #209 active members as of 5/02, account $, etc.

1.     RINEMBA owes Dennis $2K; itemized at bottom.  -not enough $ in account to cover. NEMBA has not paid RI chapter for 2022 events. Shannon to follow up. Dennis to be paid what is available for now. T-shirt sales this week should refill account with $1200.

b)    Document store (Dennis) -Doc store is complete and available on the shared NEMBA Drive. Any member with a nemba.org email should have access to and be able to distribute documents as needed.

c)     General meeting discussion

1.     Board votes to go hybrid going forward for all meetings.

2.     July meeting location? – Northern RI proposed. Dennis to look into Guild Brewery in Pawtucket for availability. 

d)    Board attendance. – Shannon, Mark, Adam, Paul, Chris H, Linda

2.     Welcome to any newcomers.

3.     Comments/requests/concerns/questions/complaints from newcomers?   

4.     Browning Mill bridges. Waiting on President to cut lumber and schedule.

5.     Ryan Park. Still waiting for DEM to approve plans.

6.     Roger Williams Park. Still waiting on President to flag.

7.     DEM:

a)     NEMBA to incorporate in RI; smooth State Legal approval of various. – Travis to lead initiative.

b)    Maintenance MOU request. Nothing new.

c)     Night riding pilot. Hope to debrief with DEM soon, discuss in July.

d)    Trail re-route POC discussion. AMC. Still waiting on President to get off his keister.    

e)     Special license for >75. Waiting for “a)” and DEM.

1.     Will need DEM Police detail above 75; $256 for first 4 hours (min charge), $64/hr after

f)     Greasy Joe’s parking. No movement. DEM acknowledges issue.

g)    Requested “Snow Grooming Pilot” discussion: clone of Night Riding Pilot.

h)    Complaints from DEM about scarring of rock due to studded tyres. – Alan to investigate further on site.

i)      NST cleanaganza? – Vote: Yes. Alan to pursue and coordinate.

8.     Woody Hill NEMBA trail grant proposal.(Dennis) - $500 grant awarded by NEMBA for the extension of Hobbit Juice Bridge. Build day with be July 10th.

9.     1PVD Cycling in Merino Park. (Dennis) – 1PVD building a skills course. Looking for labor on build days. Still? – Project seems to have cooled at the moment. Dennis will watch for further opportunity and post for help as needed.

10.  RINEMBA tools from John Sumner (Dennis/Linda) trying to coordinate pick up. -No progress.

11.  Beginner Clinic

a)     Repeat?  - Yes. We will add a beginner training ride to the big River Thursdays throughout summer. Dennis to post on Golden for June 16th.

12.  Women’s/Coed Advanced Skills clinic

a)     Repeat? – Chris N not in meeting. Seems like he and others would like to do another.  Continue conversation next month.

13.  Ride area reps? (Mark S)

a)     Introductions to Land Managers?

b)    2023 Earth Day – possible to do one in LW next year?

c)     New land trust area in Cumberland. – Chris N has more details.

1.     Liaison needed.

2.     Westerly land trust references. – Glenn to provide references from Foster and Westerly Land Trusts.

d)    Emergency access for main riding areas.

1.     Alan met with WGFD. DEM mentioned signage in northern RI.

2.     Conversation to continue next month.

14.  Big River Cleanup

a)     Checklist- Alan to formalize

15.  Diamond Hill Fun Ride debrief – Went very well. One rider fell and broke their shoulder. We will send him a shirt and a free entry to their next Fun ride. May want to reiterate that riders should not be caught with alcohol at Fun Rides.

16.  Arcadia Fun Ride 6/12

a)     Sold out? – No. We need to advertise far and wide. T-shirts to be posted on Website to sell. Cannot sell onsite (no cash on site).

b)    What help needed? (Chris H: registration and arrows down) – Mark, Shannon, Dennis, Patrick, Steve O to put arrows up. Chris H , Mark, Dennis, Chris H registration. Shannon, Chris H and Mark arrows down.

17.  Donation to Westerly Land Trusts? $150 up to $200 to become Corporate Sponsor for WLT. Done? 

18.  First Aid training. -Linda to repost

a)     WGFD offered to attend hands-on or to meet with group EMTs.

b)    Who has enrolled?

19.  WLT MOU (Chris P/Paul K). – Waiting for dust to settle?

20.  Golden Volunteer (Dennis) – Looking for organizers. Linda looking to be involved.

21.  Any news from corporate? (Wayne/Chris N)

22.  New Business from board? – New NEMBA Chapter SOUTHCOAST NEMBA (MA). Asked to take over Wettamoo. Vote: Yes new chapter will assume ownership of area.
