Burlingame Trail Maintenance Day July 20th

July 10th, 2008

July 20th Len will be running a trail maintenance day in Burlingame. Trail trimming, rock bridges, lots of fun stuff.

9:00 a.m. at the Picnic Area Lot (Beach Lot), off the Prosser Trail/Burlingame Park Exit, Route 1 South, Charlestown.

We will be building rock ‘patios’ on the Sammy C Trail, in some of the low spots.

There is a pretty big blow down that needs to be cut out, too. If anyone has a good bow saw, that should do the trick.

We will gather at 9:00 and decide a course of action from there.

Bring the usual gloves, bug spray, snacks and definitely hydration. Shovels and picks will help, too.

From the Beach lot, we may drop people so they can get onto the trail quicker. Maybe park a couple of cars down at the Schoolhouse Pond lot.

Any questions or for more info, or just to say you’re coming, call or email Lennon at 401-212-6694, zel@cox.net

Bring your bike too, if you want. Some people can/should probably ride in.

p.s.-This event happens RAIN OR SHINE. The wet will actually make this job easier.

Big River Heads-up

June 24th, 2008

Rhodie Rovers (the motorcycles) have a permit to run a ride thru Big River Sunday June 29th. Likely a good idea to avoid the area at least for the morning.

Also, the Water Resouces Board survived the state budget crisis. As the dust settles we will get back to trying to get approval for a bridge project that we looked at with the WRB in the spring.

best wishes

Recently updated the Big River Map. Included some commonly used names (after consulting a number of the long time users), also just made some names up…. what ever. In anycase, this should make it a little easier for us to talk about trail issues etc in the future…
