Big River Heads Up

Another round of logging is about to begin in Big River. On Burnt Saw Mill Road, second bridge to the left will be replaced with a full size crossing (was the “metal grate bridge before it became the narrow plank bridge). The pines in that section will be selectively cut. This is scheduled to start the end of this month and into February. Stay clear of that area if you can when you hear equipment in there.
Also, the completion of the “Native Grasslands Field Project” of last year will get back underway this winter. Half of the fields were cleared last year (examples: south of “Burnt House”, southern end of “Shot the Moon trail”, behind the cemetery on Hopkins Hill Road). Most of the fields still to be restored as I understand it are not in the core of Big River.
See ya in the woods in the spring.
