Great Holiday Party
Huge thanks to Bart & Kerry who organized the event. Almost 50 attended at JC’s Bar & Grill. We voted in our 2010 slate of officers.
Anthony & Craig talked about our efforts to over-ride the govenor’s veto on the Big River bill. All members should expect a call in December. You will be asked to call your state reps on the Big River issue. This is an important issue, and everyone needs to make that little effort to make this happen.
Gave out two awards: Most Improved Female Rider, Beth Cabral & Male, Alan Winsor. We had an impartial guest select the winning ticket for 2009 Members Raffle, the prize was a Stout 29er donated at cost from Matt of NBX bikes. Bart (the chapter secretary) won (it was NOT an inside deal, the ticket was pulled from a jar with about 500 tickets in it by an Alzheimer’s patent!!!).
On a personal level, I spent about 2 hrs Thanksgiving weekend going through the ride waviers, checking membership, noting how many people rode this year in our group rides (a lot!!), and who went to the effort to sign the waviers so they would be in the raffle (quite a lot), who signed waviers, rode a lot and still haven’t joined (quite a lot as well… will work harder in 2010 to get these people to join!) …. and turning that info into numbered raffle tickets (maybe 500 tickets). The outcome of all that effort, completely perfect, the guy I personally wanted to see on a 29er! Bart. One of my best friends and riding bud, the guy who isn’t having a good time if he isn’t complaining. Too too funny.
Note: No January Meeting. Next meeting will be Feb 2nd 2010,
