First outing for ‘Good Vibes Youth Rides’
Jim and I packed up the truck and headed to Big River for a ride with some kids from the Met School (in Providence). Jeremy, Carlos, Matt and Mike (the teacher) met us at Big River. After getting them sized up to the bikes and helmets Jim gave them a quick run down of the basics and off we all went.. It was a little slick from the rain, but the boyz were dealing pretty well.. After they got used to shifting we tried going over some logs and they seemed to get the hang of it pretty quickly.. We had a few crashes and Matt received the ultimate chain ring mark on his calf (we’ve all been there). We rode for about 2 hours and it seemed like they enjoyed themselves and hopefully we will get them out there again with us soon..
Special thanks go to RI Nemba for donations through the last two fun rides plus proceeds from the King of Burlingame time trail. That initial $1,700. bought (at cost) some Merlin Bikes and some helmets to start the program.
