Big River Cleanup follow up
Thanks to all that pitched in for the annual Big River Cleanup event. The sign up sheets show 140! I’d add to that another 20 that missed signing in and then there were ones who worked earlier in the week to pull stuff out of the woods and clean Hopkins Hill Rd. I think this is the best turnout ever.
Good showing of mtbkers, as well as Cub Scouts, URI students, Rhody Rovers, Ocean State Jeep, West Greenwich Conservationists, RI Modelers, neighbors and friends. Wow. It was fun to all work shoulder to shoulder for a common goal; to continue to protect this piece of woods.
Filled 4 dumpsters, one of just tires. Pulled out two long dead trucks.
Now fellow riders, a word of warning, as part of cleaning up the environment some important landmarks were removed that could be key to navigating the maze of trails. However at least one was kindly replaced by a historic marker (thanks Jim’s kids).
